| New Warcraft Patch |
By Kueken on 04-08-2009 14:40:17
As expected, the new Warcraft Patch has made newer HLW RoC Versions unplayable.
I am currently working on a fast fix to make you able to play the map again asap. It will not be very well elaborated (I will use the old loadscreen to save time), expect a patch soon after.
UPDATE: I released a Quick Fix, just to make the Map playable for you. The map might still have some bugs and description errors; also it uses the old loadingscreen, so expect a new update soon.

There are also some changes, which are not documented in the map; look at the

Please, could someone explain how this could happen?
and why is it just hlw that is broken?

Its widely explained in the forums, look at the older news. It was well-known that this patch would kill the HLW versions. Also it is not only HLW, which is broken; many popular custom maps do not work anymore (Dota, Castle Fight, Battle Tanks etc etc)

When you have time, do you know if there's any way you could do a quick fix or full fix for 5.1? I understand that 5.2 is a lot more important to fix, which is why I ask when you have time :P. I just like the basic start of it better, instead of having to choose which type of mobs.

Well, there was a kind of full recode from 5.1 to 5.2 due to the announcement of blizzard for the 1.24 patch. The code of 5.1 is almost completely incompatible with warcraft 1.24, 5.2 was prepared to almost work with 1.24, so i did not have to change very much.
I have no plans in recoding 5.1 for 1.24 currently, since it is a huge amount of work. Instead you could come up with some suggestions for 5.3 to make it more enjoyable ;)

Hi, Well I don't speak english very well ...
I think you need to do a quickly fix for version 5.1 cause 5.2 is to hard for lot of people and they will stop play HLWR for go to stupid HLW Lithion ;)
And for finish, i like your mode and i want to say : Nice job ;)
Oups, I just read your last message, I think the first creeps are too hard and we always need to use shrine for kill them. Only some heros can kill these creeps without level. Players do not know how to use shrine or they use it for nothing, so I think you need to change some carac from these first creeps. And we ve got too many money at start ... 80 gold ... put 40 gold. :)
The new hero; Gosh pach is too good, put a nerf on him.
I hope you understand something un my message :)

Hey Stallu
I agree with you that the first creeps are hard. But they are not invincible. Especially in a full game (5on5) its pretty easy to kill them WITHOUT shrine. I stopped HLW some weeks ago and now I played some pubs with the new 5.2b. And I'm sure that you can kill these hard creeps on lvl 2.
The problem are 1v1s. I think that the game will end at 300 income because you can rush your ennemies so fast with the right creeps. Ill play more HLW in clan games now to find balance ideas...
So on cya ingame

Alright, I understand that, and thanks for the quick reply with an explanation :). As the others have said, I would definitely lower some of the first creeps HP/attack, and raise that new "Frozen" whatever guy's (forgot the name) HP, because he died in 3 shots from Centaurs after I leveled even twice... Mainly though, the first creeps are way too strong in some areas. Most are able to be dealt with, but when it's 1 person on a side and someone spams Rogue (the one with HP regen, don't send them so I forget name, but cost 20 gold), and you have an int char, good luck killing them fast without spamming skills and running out of mana.
tl;dr Balance the first creeps so that I can actually play a game and not win before I get to even level 2 creeps...

or you dont have to recode 5.1, but instead reverse the changes made in 5.2 and re-release it. i conversed with a number of public gamers and the most popular version ever released was 4.2. i miss the old times.

4.2... r u kidding me.. 5.2 is like 100x better than 4.2, the only thing you dont like is the light/dark creeps ( or the public gamers you talked to) tell them to just keep playing it and adapt to the new stuff.. Kueken will find a way to make it more enjoyable in newer versions, but this version is better than 4.2 by far...

:P If you look at mapgnome, 5.2 is played very much on northrend already. The US players do not seem to like 5.2; however europeans do. 50 times hosted in us but about 200 times in europe ;) strange.
Well for me the game is more enjoyable with the changes and many people agree with me. Sure they need some tweaking, but I wont revert them completely.

the first creeps are easy as hell i usually join a pub game but there all noobs as usual they either dont micro or just dont know how to use the character even when i was gone for 3-4 months i came back made it to tier 3 and still won. "when i was on tier 3 they all were on tier 2 some were on tier 1" i like 5.1 more then 5.2 through since you gotta send the right creeps. in 5.2 u can basically mass in beginning to kill off the noobs =( oh an aranctid barbs are simple now since they got reduced to 80 percent
